| Sumari: | This study analyzes the process of formalization of the seafood trade in the Quinindé Canton during the period 2023-2024, with the aim of identifying the factors that drove this formalization and the challenges that still persist. A mixed methodology was used, combining surveys of merchants and interviews with local officials. The results show that the main drive towards formalization comes from the need to access credit and comply with legal regulations, which has significantly improved the income of merchants.
