| Shrnutí: | It is often pointed out that there is a disproportion between how much literary theory is taught in literature programs in our country and the relatively minor place this discipline occupies in the scientific field of literary studies compared to other areas. Nevertheless, this book seeks to demonstrate the enduring relevance of a particular mode of theoretical thinking and writing in Argentina: the fifteen essays that comprise it, written by some of the most relevant and interesting Argentine voices in their approach to contemporary literary theory, account for a new state of literary theory and its relations with criticism. The phrase that gives the volume its title, “the impossible theory,” seeks to name a certain stubborn commitment to thinking about literature from within literature itself. Each of the essays examines, from the singularity of the experience of literary reading, the boundaries between literature and politics, history, madness, teaching, the essay, and subjectivity. |
