Beskrivelse
Summary:This Reprint, entitled Nutrition and Growth of Preterm Neonates during Hospitalization: Impact on Childhood Outcomes, compiles recent studies on the nutrition and growth of premature neonates and their implications for neurodevelopment and long-term health. It examines the multifactorial causes of suboptimal postnatal growth, such as feeding challenges, gut immaturity, high energy demands, respiratory and infectious complications, and rapid brain development. The collection also addresses controversies regarding the definition of extrauterine growth retardation and what constitutes optimal nutrition and growth with the least adverse impact in later life. By bringing together original research and reviews, this Reprint provides valuable insights into nutrition, growth monitoring, developmental outcomes, and the long-term health of preterm populations.
