Riassunto:Despite significant progress in anticancer therapy, cancer remains the second most common cause of death worldwide after cardiovascular disease. One of the main problems associated with the failure of anticancer therapy is the resistance to cytostatics observed in cancer cells, which is largely related to the ability to inhibit programmed cell death. These changes result in cancer cell survival, the accumulation of mutations, and, consequently, increased invasiveness. Observed side effects of the therapies used are also a significant problem. Therefore, the continuous search for innovative cancer treatment methods and new groups of compounds with anticancer activity is extremely important. Phytochemicals present in various medicinal plants possess enormous chemopreventive potential. We strongly encourage you to read this Reprint, which demonstrates the enormous importance of phytochemicals in cancer chemoprevention and treatment in various experimental models. We hope that the findings not only confirm their potential anticancer properties but also inspire further research.
