| description | Collapses, landslides, and debris flows remain among the most destructive geological disasters (GDs), frequently causing severe casualties and property losses. Accurate prediction and early warning are therefore critical for effective hazard mitigation, yet the timely identification of collapse precursors has long been a significant challenge. This volume is focused on advancing methodologies for the quantitative recognition of unstable rock masses, the assessment of landslide instability precursors, and the modeling of movable solid sources in debris flow initiation zones. The collected studies further highlight progress in the design and application of innovative monitoring systems, the establishment of early warning indices, and the development of reinforcement and control measures. In addition, remote sensing techniques such as InSAR, LiDAR, and multispectral/hyperspectral imagery have been applied to detect precursory deformation, produce large-scale hazard maps, and enable real-time geohazard monitoring. Collectively, this specialized publication not only advances the understanding of the mechanisms driving geological disasters but also provides innovative tools and frameworks for practical early warning applications, supporting disaster prevention, risk reduction, and engineering resilience in hazard-prone regions. |
