It further investigates literature and culture beyond habitual victimological frameworks as sites of unruly, unexpected, and unpredictable agency. The edited collection of essays provides impressive examples of such work engaging with a wide array of narrative forms—from novels, short fiction, life writing, and poetry to performance, documentary, film, and museum exhibitions—cutting across an equally wide array of contexts ranging from Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, and India to Kenya, the Middle East, Poland, Sri Lanka, South Africa, the UK, the USA, and Zimbabwe. Dieser Sammelband befasst sich mit vielfältigen Formen der Unterdrückung und den von ihr Betroffenen im Globalen Süden, ohne auf eine vorauseilende Normativität zurückzugreifen, die eine sofortige Identifizierung von Opfern und Tätern verspricht. Er erforscht kritische, selbstreflexive und ‚entzauberte‘ Formen von Solidarität, im Kontrast zu organischen, pauschalisierten oder ‚verzauberten‘ Solidaritäten. Darüber hinaus werden Literatur und Kultur jenseits des gewohnten viktimologischen Rahmens als Schauplätze widerspenstiger, unerwarteter und unvorhersehbarer Handlungsmöglichkeiten untersucht. Die Aufsatzsammlung liefert dafür beeindruckende Beispiele, die sich mit einer breiten Palette von Erzählformen befassen – von Romanen, Kurzgeschichten, Life Writing und Gedichten bis hin zu Performances, Dokumentarfilmen, Filmen und Museumsausstellungen – und eine ebenso breite Palette von Kontexten abdecken: von Kamerun, Äthiopien, Ghana und Indien über Kenia, den Nahen Osten, Polen und Sri Lanka bis hin zu Südafrika, Großbritannien, den USA und Simbabwe. |
