Das Buch behandelt die Geschichte des letzten Krieges zwischen Nepal und China-Tibet 1791/1792. Mit einer Fülle neu entdeckter und erstmalig edierter sowie übersetzter Texte aus Nepal, China und Tibet bildet der Band ein Handbuch zu den Quellen dieses chinesisch-nepalesischen Krieges. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die umstrittene Frage, wer den Krieg gewonnen hat. Im Lichte des neuen Materials wird die Kernthese entwickelt, dass sich beide Seiten zum Sieger erklären konnten, ohne dass dies von der jeweils anderen Seite stark bestritten wurde. Diese seltene Form einer Kriegsbeendigung war hauptsächlich durch die transkulturelle Komplexität und die unterschiedlichen Auslegungen der verwendeten Schlüsselbegriffe möglich. |
