| Riassunto: | In the last decade, suicide rates have shown an increase that has led institutions such as the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization to consider it a public health problem, a situation from which the department of Boyacá (Colombia) has not been exempt, reporting high suicide rates per number of inhabitants. This situation sparked the interest of a group of researchers from the University of Boyacá, who over the years conducted studies with different populations, which allowed them to identify the main risk factors and the components for building a prevention proposal. In this way, the book is divided into two parts and five chapters that address suicide as a public health problem in the international, national, and regional context. Similarly, a prevention program composed of 10 sessions that integrates self-control and problem-solving techniques is presented, which is supported by the research processes developed by the authors. |
