Summary:The European Innovation Partnership Action Group “Inno Food HUB”, coordinated by researchers from the Faculty of Bioeconomy Development, the Business and Rural Development Research Institute, is implementing the project “Governance of biologically valuable products short supply chains and development of local markets”. In cooperation with farmers growing sea buckthorn, fibrous hemp and medicinal plants and developing SFSC, the consultants address the issue relevant to the Lithuanian agricultural sector, farmers and consumers - how to effectively organize short supply chains of biologically valuable products and by what means farmers and other stakeholders can ensure local markets. The aim of the scientific study is to identify exemplary models of SFSC organization after analysing examples of good practice in the organization of SFSC in European countries. Tasks of the scientific study: 1. To summarize the theoretical aspects of the organization of short food supply chains. 2. To substantiate the research methodology of the examples of good practices in the organization of short food supply chains in European countries. 3. To evaluate examples of good practice in the organization of short food supply chains in European countries. 4. To define the elements characteristic of short food supply chain organization models. 5. To provide opportunities to improve the organization of short food supply chains and the development of local markets. The selected methods of analysis of good practice examples and pursuit of good practice (Benchmarking) helped to create new knowledge about the organization of SFSC, which can contribute to the faster development of them and local markets in Lithuania.
