Zusammenfassung:Human dignity is an essential element in the case-law of the ECtHR. Pascal Ronc examines in which constellations and with which functions human dignity is introduced in the argumentation of the ECtHR and with which interpretation methodology the ECtHR uses this topic. The author thereby constructs elements of a theory of human dignity in the ECHR. In addition, the thesis shows the potential for further development of the protection of human dignity and thus provides an important piece of research on the protection of dignity in Europe.
