Eighteen are in Italian, while five are in English, three in Spanish, and one in French, since they were originally presented at conferences abroad. They deal especially with the dialogue Bruta animalia ratione uti, the Quaestiones convivales, Plutarch’s quotations from Menander and Euripides, his Lives of Romulus and Theseus, the Consolation to his Wife, and the Erotikós. Different interpretative problems, as well as several textual questions, are tackled. Finally, several significant clarifications about Plutarch’s family, mainly concerning his children, wife, and in-laws, are attained. |
