| Sumario: | A pivotal moment in Leopoldine reformism and in the history of governmental practices, the Municipal Reform aimed to replace the traditional elite of local notables with a class of landowning administrators. Yet the challenges encountered in its implementation highlight the need to focus on diverse local experiences. This study therefore examines the Reform’s application in the Mugello area. The communities under consideration—seven from the Contado and three from the Distretto —represent emblematic case studies for analysing the reception, enforcement, and more or less deliberate infringements of the Reform’s general principles. |
