description The large text corpus (comprising 5,280,750 tokens) in The Language Bank of Finland includes the text of the Finnish novelist Kalle Päätalo’s (1919–2000) autobiographical main work, the Iijoki series, and the corpus is still expanding with his other books. The corpus enables the scientific analysis of Päätalo’s work in a new way. This book expands on the themes initiated in the book called ”Kalle Päätalo through the eyes of researchers”. This book represents the fields of history, ethnology, linguistics and literature studies. The main theme of this collection is change, often the change in society, and the text corpus is often helpful in tracing this change employing scientific methods. In his works, Kalle Päätalo describes the everyday life between 1910’s and 1990’s in its context. Like the physical work in the logging sites at the time described in his books, it also seems that there is no end in sight for the work of the researchers: the study of these texts will continue.
