On the other hand, in Tunja, a physical metamorphosis occurs in the environment, the appearance, and the culture of the inhabitants. The city awakens and radically transforms compared to its colonial character, as Antonio Martínez Zulaica states in the editorials of the newspaper La Tierra. The chapters cover: the first, the transformation during the period; the second, the forms of urban growth during the period; the third, urban planning during the period; the fourth, the provision of public utility services; the fifth, public spaces; the sixth, industrial equipment and facilities; and the seventh, formal and informal housing developments.
