President Xi Jinping also emphasized that Guangdong must join hands with Hong Kong and Macau to accelerate progress and establish a world-class bay area. On July 1, 2017, the Framework Agreement on Deepening Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Cooperation in the Development of the Greater Bay Area was signed. This clarified the development goals within the Greater Bay Area. This overview focuses on the existing conditions and regional integration of Hong Kong, Macau, and the nine cities in Guangdong Province in 2017.
