Beskrivelse
Summary:The Belt and Road Initiative, also known as the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, represents for China both a new stage of economic development and a major shift in external trade and diplomatic relations. For Hong Kong, the initiative contains significant business opportunities and political implications that should not be overlooked. Hong Kong must break through conventional thinking regarding the Belt and Road, weigh the relative importance of maritime and land routes, and establish its own role within the overall framework. This book is edited by two veteran media professionals, with contributions from scholars specializing in the Belt and Road Initiative. It is divided into three sections—Opportunities, Macro Perspectives, and Strategies—and examines the impact of the policy on Hong Kong from the perspectives of history, culture, geopolitics, economics, and law. With a pragmatic yet cautiously optimistic outlook, the book assesses Hong Kong’s strengths and provides readers with a reasoned conclusion.
