| Shrnutí: | Twenty years after the handover, the Special Administrative Region government has spoken of economic transformation for just as long. Yet this once dazzling international financial center has shown signs of fatigue. Many professional service sectors—including accounting, law, healthcare, and finance—have also entered a period of bottleneck. Young people often complain about the lack of upward mobility. In response, City University of Hong Kong established the Research Centre for Sustainable Hong Kong, an interdisciplinary research platform to conduct applied studies and promote sustainable development. The research team hopes to track various professional services, with the accounting industry as its first case study. Since August 2015, they have collected diverse voices from the industry through in-depth interviews, surveys, focus groups, and forums, and analyzed the current and future prospects of Hong Kong’s accounting industry. The team also invited contributions from newly recruited young people, mid-level practitioners, and industry leaders, presenting their perspectives to explore the challenges faced and to propose practical solutions. The accounting industry absorbs more than a thousand graduates each year, serving as a ladder for many to embark on a professional career path. To seize development opportunities in the accounting industry, this book is a must-read. |
