| description | This chapter engages in dialogue with each contribution to this volume and proposes potential avenues for future research on immigrant social networks. It first highlights points from each contribution, which serve as the basis for reflecting on the state of the field and for proposing future research questions. The chapters demonstrate that research on the complexity and generative potential of immigrant social networks can enrich theorizing on migration processes and shed light on the dynamics and structure of social networks more generally. Possible paths for future research include deploying analytical approaches that disentangle social networks and social capital, expanding existing methodological repertoires, applying intersectional lenses, moving beyond binaries of gender and other social categories, attending to fundamental aspects of the broader context, and connecting social network research to immigration policy. |
