| Özet: | What are the hallmarks of a well-run elite sports environment in the Scandinavian countries? With 19 research-based chapters from Norway, Sweden and Denmark, this anthology provides insight into individual and collective development, team processes, values and organizational conditions in elite sports in Scandinavia. Elite Sports in Scandinavia: A Social Sciences Research Anthology on Development and Performance Environments sheds light on the many challenges that both young and older athletes face in the transition to and within elite sports. Similar to other international talent development and elite sports environments, Scandinavian elite sports are under ongoing professionalization, with increased resource use in terms of finances, framework factors and expertise. Yet, Scandinavian talent development and elite sports are also characterized by a high degree of volunteer work and are founded on a more value-based approach to developing athletes, coaches, teams and building performance cultures. Central themes in this research anthology are content, organization and framework factors for elite sports, talent development and development environments. Topics covered are: • Educational systems • Organizational development • Development environment • Team development • Coach development • Talent development This book provides key actors within sports, such as managers, coaches, teachers and parents, with greater insight into how individual factors, environmental factors and systemic factors influence players in top sports environments in Scandinavia. The book may also be useful for others outside of sports, such as political decision-makers, businesses and sponsors. |
