Il testo – frutto di una ricerca svolta all'interno del Dottorato di ricerca in progettazione paesistica della Facoltà di Architettura di Firenze – elabora un'ipotesi di processo metodologico per la pianificazione del paesaggio nelle isole minori, mettendo a confronto alcuni casi studio individuati nel Mediterraneo occidentale, e riportando frequenti casi singoli che ampliano il panorama sulle specificità delle isole.
