Die vorliegende Arbeit setzt sich mit den Wörtern im Slovakischen auseinander, die als "Tschechismen" bzw. als "tschechische Kontaktwörter" gelten. Damit geht sie auf eines der brisantesten Themen in der Slovakistik ein. Sie untersucht den heutigen normativen Status der genannten Wörter und seine Veränderungen nach dem gesellschaftlich-politischen Umbruch am Ende der 80er und zu Beginn der 90er Jahre. Sie geht sodann der Frage nach, wie die aktuelle normativistische Be- bzw. Abwertung dieser Wörter in der Sprachpraxis befolgt wird. Die empirische Untersuchung konzentriert sich auf die Pressesprache. Die Ergebnisse der soziolinguistischen Umfrage und exemplarische Auszüge aus Internetforen veranschaulichen, welche Haltung die slovakischen Sprecher zu den untersuchten Wörtern einnehmen.
