description This book provides a profound insight into post-war Mostar, and the memories of three generations of this Bosnian-Herzegovinian city. Drawing on several years of ethnographic fieldwork, it offers a vivid account of how personal and collective memories are utterly intertwined, and how memories across the generations are reimagined and ‘rewritten’ following great socio-political change. Focusing on both Bosniak-dominated East Mostar and Croat-dominated West Mostar, it demonstrates that, even in this ethno-nationally divided city with its two divergent national historiographies, generation-specific experiences are crucial in how people ascribe meaning to past events.

2021-02-10T12:58:18Z 2017-12-31 23:55:55 2020-02-13 13:34:04 2020-04-01T13:53:07Z 2016 book 622220 OCN: 967715513 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/31915 9781137450630 https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/26680 eng open access image/jpeg image/jpeg image/jpeg image/jpeg https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/31915/1/622220.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/31915/1/622220.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/31915/1/622220.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/31915/1/622220.pdf Springer Nature Palgrave Macmillan 10.1057/978-1-137-45063-0 10.1057/978-1-137-45063-0 9fa3421d-f917-4153-b9ab-fc337c396b5a Austrian Science Fund 26ae1657-c58f-4f1d-a392-585ee75c293e 9781137450630 Austrian Science Fund (FWF) Palgrave Macmillan 268 Basingstoke PUB 395 open access
