L’une des conséquences de l’impuissance de l’histoire à asseoir ce qui serait une certaine vérité du passé, c’est d’attirer à elle ceux qui voudraient s’y inscrire rétroactivement en invoquant les injustices mémorielles dont ils auraient été victimes. Si l’histoire s’ouvre ainsi à tout venant, c’est que la société elle-même n’est plus certaine de son identité non plus que du parcours qui l’a conduite jusqu’à elle-même. Dans les sociétés contemporaines où s’achève cet éclatement de la référence collective, on observe ainsi l’encombrement des acteurs se précipitant au cœur de l’histoire espérant y inscrire la mémoire de leur propre parcours. |
