This dissertation offers a systematic description and justification of Recognition Counselling as a new form of Specialist Counselling service and shows how educational and vocational guidance can position itself and become more professional in the society of migration. Im Ausland erworbene Qualifikationen sind aufgrund struktureller Hindernisse oftmals nur schwer für die berufliche Integration nutzbar. Doch gerade dieser Aspekt gewinnt zunehmend an gesellschaftlicher Bedeutung und wird in der Anerkennungsberatung im Einzelfall verhandelt. Dieser Prozess ist aber mit nicht unerheblichen rechtlichen und gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen konfrontiert. Birgit Schmidtke untersucht aus einer anerkennungs- und beratungstheoretischen Perspektive, welche Handlungsstrategien die Berater_innen in Auseinandersetzung mit den rechtlichen und gesellschaftlichen Bedingungen entwickeln.
