Die Vermittlung von Expertenwissen an ein nicht gelehrtes Publikum stellt einen Prozess von hoher Komplexität dar. Er unterliegt nicht nur fachspezifischen Anforderungen, sondern auch institutionellen und medialen Voraussetzungen. Die Frühe Neuzeit erweist sich aufgrund des Buchdrucks als eine Umbruchzeit, an der sich Transferprozesse in besonderer Weise studieren lassen. Die Anpassung fach- wissenschaftlicher Kenntnisse, etwa des Rechts, der Medizin, der Theologie oder der Artes, an die Rezeptionsbedingungen von Laien erfordert differenzierte Kommunikationsstrategien, die theoretische Konzepte der Wissenschaften an die Erfordernisse handwerklicher Expertise anbinden und Gelehrsamkeit in Praxis zu überführen in der Lage sind.
