Die Automobilindustrie gehört zu den zentralen Wirtschaftsbranchen Deutschlands sowie zu den Hochburgen der gewerkschaftlichen Organisation und Mitbestimmung. Seit der Nachkriegszeit haben sich hier besonders weitreichende Muster der »Konfliktpartnerschaft« zwischen Arbeit und Kapital herausgebildet. Dieser Band bietet erstmals eine zusammenfassende sozialhistorische Darstellung der betrieblichen Mitbestimmung in der westdeutschen Automobilindustrie in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts.
