Der Band bietet 332 Regesten von Urkunden Kaiser Friedrichs III. aus dem Haus-, Hof- und Staatsarchiv für die Jahre 1476 bis 1479 – einem für die Zukunft entscheidenden Zeitraum. Im Westen begann der burgundische Erbfolgekrieg und im Osten führten die jahrelangen Spannungen zum offenen Krieg mit Ungarn, weshalb die Friedensverhandlungen mit dem ungarischen König Matthias Corvinus (1477) sowie der Urkundenkomplex zur Belehnung Maximilians, des Sohns Friedrichs III., mit Burgund (1478) zu den bedeutendsten Stücken des Bandes zählen.
