Nachhaltigkeit ist zu einem Leitbegriff des gesellschaftlichen Wandels geworden, mit dem sich unterschiedliche Zielvorstellungen verbinden – sei es ein grüner Kapitalismus, der auf ökologischer Modernisierung beruht, oder eine sozial-ökologische Transformation, die eine postkapitalistische Ära einläuten könnte. In dieser Programmschrift von Sighard Neckel und seinem Hamburger Forschungsteam werden die gesellschaftlichen Dimensionen von Nachhaltigkeit aufgezeigt, aber auch die Paradoxien, die mit einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung im globalen Kapitalismus verbunden sind.
