Der Franziszeische Kataster war der erfolgreiche Versuch, in der Habsburgermonarchie erstmals einen einheitlichen Rechtsraum im Hinblick auf Bodenbewertung und Steuerwesen herzustellen. Die Bukowina ist das erste in dieser Form umfangreich dokumentierte Kronland, das sich vollständig außerhalb des heutigen Österreichs befindet.
