description Religious aesthetics have gained increasing importance over the past few years in the fields of Religious studies and Islamic studies. This volume highlights the transcultural dimensions of the theoretical foundations of religious aesthetics. It explores aesthetic experience in the religious field through a series of case studies. These include Islamic sermons from the Middle East and South Asia, Islamic religious chanting, a chapter of the Qurʾān, a German performance artist, Indian rasa theory, and Arabic and Bengali literature. Together, the authors demonstrate that the analysis of the aesthetic forms of religious mediation across regions and genres is a fruitful approach to transcultural studies.

2021-02-10T12:58:18Z 2019-03-27 23:55 2020-02-24 09:32:17 2020-04-01T10:36:01Z 2018 book 1004729 OCN: 1100491032 2365-7995/eISSN 2365-7987 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/25367 9783947732029; 9783947732012 https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/34473 eng Heidelberg Studies on Transculturality open access image/jpeg image/jpeg image/jpeg image/jpeg image/jpeg n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/25367/1/religion.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/25367/1/religion.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/25367/1/religion.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/25367/1/religion.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/25367/1/religion.pdf Heidelberg University Publishing (heiUP) 10.17885/heiup.416 10.17885/heiup.416 83eb0236-463a-4213-8a0f-dc16011f70aa 9783947732029; 9783947732012 AG Universitätsverlage 256 Heidelberg open access
