In der frühen römischen Kaiserzeit wurden im Hanghaus 2 von Ephesos die Reste eines opulenten Bankettes in einer Grube verfüllt. Durch eine Auswertung der tausenden Artefakte und biogenen Überreste war es möglich, das dahinter stehende Fest zu rekonstruieren und eine schlüssige Vermutung für dessen Grund zu liefern.
