Die Zuverlässigkeit alltäglicher Dinge ist eines der Fundamente der Orientierung in unserer Lebenswelt. Viele Gegenstände offenbaren jedoch auf den zweiten Blick andere, oftmals ganz unerwartete Eigenschaften. Diese zeigen sich in neuen Umgangsweisen, führen zu neuen Kontexten und bedingen mitunter überraschende Umwertungen. Die Beiträge dieses Bandes präsentieren ausgewählte Gegenstände, deren herausfordernder Charakter bei genauerer Betrachtung offenkundig wird.
