description With their branch networks and partners, the Florentine banks dominated international monetary transactions of the 15th century. Thanks to their presence in the main commercial centres of the continent, the merchant bankers from Tuscany dominated the cashless processing of large transfers of money from all over Europe to the Roman Curia. Kurt Weissen examines how curia bankers, such as the Alberti and the Medici, connected Germany to this payment system via Bruges and Venice. He analyses the role played by the establishment of branches in Lübeck, Cologne, Basel and Constance and the importance of cooperation with German merchant companies.

2022-01-06T04:01:02Z 2022-01-06T04:01:02Z 2022-01-05T11:58:15Z 2021 book ONIX_20220105_9783968220208_5 ONIX_20220105_9783968220208_5 OCN: 1302287408 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/52204 9783968220208 9783968220215 9783968220222 https://directory.doabooks.org/handle/20.500.12854/75213 ger open access image/jpeg image/jpeg image/jpeg image/jpeg Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/52204/1/9783968220208.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/52204/1/9783968220208.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/52204/1/9783968220208.pdf https://library.oapen.org/bitstream/20.500.12657/52204/1/9783968220208.pdf Heidelberg University Publishing (heiUP) 10.17885/heiup.675 10.17885/heiup.675 83eb0236-463a-4213-8a0f-dc16011f70aa 9783968220208 9783968220215 9783968220222 AG Universitätsverlage 647 Heidelberg open access
