Sumari:The paper deals with three potential points of discussion that allow to arti-culate gender, sex and sociology. The first one concerns the sexual division of sociological work and the masculine or feminine character of the discipli-ne; using as a starting point the historical constitution of a masculine canon and the story of Marianne Weber, a founder sociologist who was excluded from the canon. The second one asks the question of the predicament of the categories “sex” and “gender” within the sociological theories. For hand-ling it some of the theoretical advancements of the French feminist/mate-rialist school are presented, as seen through some of the central categories of sociology. Finally, the sex and the position within the gender system of the “objectifying subject” is related with the conditions of the validity of knowledge, an issue that is seen through the optics of situated knowledge and feminist black thought
