Diagnosis is essential for conservation-restoration and for cultural heritage in general, as it informs all professionals involved in the care of cultural heritage. Diagnosis determines the nature and cause of various phenomena observed in cultural objects. The second part of the title -Before, During, After- refers to the research carried out at various stages during the conservation treatment and emphasizes the essential nature of these diagnoses.
