Die Frauenbewegung um 1900 war nicht nur ein politischer Zusammenschluss, sondern auch ein zentraler Ort der Vergemeinschaftung, der vielfältige, intime Beziehungen und Praxen zwischen Frauen ermöglichte. Während für die Deutung dieser Beziehungen die Kategorie der Respektabilität zentral war, perspektivierte die Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts popularisierte Unterscheidung zwischen Homo- und Heterosexualität diese Lebensmodelle neu.
