But this story is not just a story of intellect and reason; it is also a story of feelings. It is no accident that the authors of this book, experts in particle physics and astroparticle physics, have been seized by an authentic passion for these cosmological themes, for that extraordinary mystery that encloses the starry sky. |

Per rispondere almeno in parte a queste domande, e con la convinzione che sia un dovere degli uomini di scienza trasmettere alla società notizia delle conoscenze acquisite, abbiamo scritto questo libro. Qui raccontiamo, con semplicità ma con rigore, come nell’ultimo secolo, scoperta dopo scoperta, lo schema dell’Universo che gli uomini si erano fatti nel passato sia andato in pezzi e un quadro diverso, affascinante e anche inquietante sia gradualmente emerso.
