Eine interdisziplinäre, ganzheitliche Betrachtung der komplexen Erziehungsprozesse in ihren biologischen, psychischen und sozialen Kontexten steht noch aus. Angesichts der immer komplizierter und bedrohlicher werdenden Prozesse auf unserem Planeten werden Bildung und Erziehung und ihre ganzheitliche theoretische Fundierung zu einem Schlüsselfaktor für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung. Dieser Band enthält Beiträge einer Gedenkveranstaltung für den Psychologen und Erziehungswissenschaftler Gerhard Rosenfeld. Sie werden ergänzt durch die Zusammenstellung einiger bereits veröffentlichter und unveröffentlichter Originaltexte von Rosenfeld, Texte in Zusammenarbeit mit Kollegen sowie eine Zusammenstellung ausgewählter Publikationen, Vorträge und Konferenzberichte. Er beinhaltet außerdem zahlreiche Dokumente, die den wissenschaftlichen Werdegang, aber auch die Schwierigkeiten dokumentieren, welche Rosenfeld bei der Durchsetzung seiner theoretischen und praktischen Bemühungen bereitet worden sind.
