| Streszczenie: | The title "Theory, Literature, Life" connotes meanings of a sufficient depth, so as to be able to contain the main threads and dilemmas of both the earlier and the contemporary scholarly directions, from hermeneutics to biopoetics. The broad methodological spectrum was saturated with the bold colours of individual compositions, into which the selected authors wrote the oppositions of theory and literature, literature and life, and, finally, life and theory. In each of the works, the aforementioned categories would crystallise thanks to the original conceptualisation, introduced either by a discursive-speculative deconstruction of the traditional or established meaning, or by a deep, interpretative reflection on specific literary texts. The subtitle of Practicing Theory in Contemporary Humanities directs one’s attention to the fundamental issue of the applicability of methodological concepts in relation to specific situations and scholarly tasks. At the heart of the work, therefore, is the tension between theory (knowledge/science) and practice (reading/doing/experience), as well as the humanities themselves: their extent, boundaries and responsibilities. Each of the texts included in this collection of works expresses its own diagnosis of the condition of the humanities, or projects their desired metamorphoses. |
