In each of the works, the aforementioned categories would crystallise thanks to the original conceptualisation, introduced either by a discursive-speculative deconstruction of the traditional or established meaning, or by a deep, interpretative reflection on specific literary texts. The subtitle of Practicing Theory in Contemporary Humanities directs one’s attention to the fundamental issue of the applicability of methodological concepts in relation to specific situations and scholarly tasks. At the heart of the work, therefore, is the tension between theory (knowledge/science) and practice (reading/doing/experience), as well as the humanities themselves: their extent, boundaries and responsibilities. Each of the texts included in this collection of works expresses its own diagnosis of the condition of the humanities, or projects their desired metamorphoses. |
