description The present article aims to propose an idea of translation not limited exclusively to the field of transposition of a text from a language to another one. Some examples of ‘bordertext’ shall be presented; this kind of writing is characterized by the effects of reshuffling of languages, identities, experiences disseminated in the post-1989 Central European area. A particular attention shall be given to the translation dynamics of the contemporary cultural horizon through texts written by Tawada and Rakusa which are the object of analysis. The aformentioned authors live and work immersed daily in different languages and cultures, in which the translation process becomes a way of writing and questioning the traditional categories such as “border”, “homogeneity” and “monolingualism”.
