| Summary: | Introduction: The crisis situation due to the covid-19 pandemic at the global level evidenced that the mental health of the hospital population is at high risk and vulnerability, even before the pandemic. It was observed that many of the health professionals did not have adequate mental health and coping tools. Accordingly, it is understood that mental health in the workplace requires intervention to improve the welfare of the working population. Therefore, it was considered pertinent to create the program “Cuidando a Quienes Siempre Cuidan” (taking care of those who always take care) of the HUV, with the objective of promoting the well-being and mental health of the care workers of a health entity in the southwest of Colombia in the context of the covid-19 pandemic and post-pandemic, through the implementation of interventions aimed at promotion and prevention, in order to reduce risks, potentiate self-management of self-care, strengthen the significant support network, enable the identification and assertive management of emotions to create favorable environments for mental health.Materials and methods: for the elaboration of the program interventions, the operational design (OCARE) was chosen, being a methodological design containing: Objectives, content, activities, resources and evaluation. Results: The approximate number of participants who benefited from the interventions of the program “Cuidando a Quienes Siempre Cuidan” (taking care of those who always take care) at the “Hospital Universitario del Valle” is 3000 collaborators, likewise, it is possible to demonstrate the fulfillment of the objectives set by means of the satisfaction surveys carried out during the course of the interventions. Conclusions: it is clear that special attention should be paid to the mental health well-being of health workers, since they are prone to stress, anguish, depression or other psychological alterations Recommendations: it is suggested the need to continue with the implementation of the interventions of the program “Cuidando a Quienes Siempre Cuidan” (taking care of those who always take care), with the objective of continuing to promote and improve the psychological well-being of health personnel. |
