Summary:The fundamental openness of the future is seen as a prerequisite for educational processes and the con-struction of biographies. At the same time, biographical uncertainty appears as something potentially threatening in the face of social crises scenarios. The contributions in this volume show how education and biography are interwoven with social upheavals, how biographical uncertainty is pedagogically generated, processed or transformed into certainty and how this can be methodologically analysed.
