| Shrnutí: | The reconstruction of the unpublished correspondence between Ernesto Monaci (1844-1918) and Ernesto Giacomo Parodi (1862-1923) allows us to investigate some of the academic events of the time and to enter the intimate and literary yard of the two scholars. Brought together by some similar interests, both were indefatigable professors who shared a multifaceted vein that led them to merge very wide territories between them, in which interest in language, poetic experimentation, Dante and the patriotic dimension prevailed. The Carteggio investigates their relationship of mutual esteem, made up of advice and intellectual exchanges, the role Monaci takes in promoting Parodi's academic and scientific career, and the editorial variations of some of the Genoese scholar's contributions. Finally, the analysis of some forms of the “epistolary ceremonial” of the two interlocutors, which brings out the prevalence of a formal tone in Parodi's language, demonstrates the closeness of their language to the written Italian of average usage, as well as a meticulous linguistic control on the part of the writers. |
