Brought together by some similar interests, both were indefatigable professors who shared a multifaceted vein that led them to merge very wide territories between them, in which interest in language, poetic experimentation, Dante and the patriotic dimension prevailed. The Carteggio investigates their relationship of mutual esteem, made up of advice and intellectual exchanges, the role Monaci takes in promoting Parodi's academic and scientific career, and the editorial variations of some of the Genoese scholar's contributions. Finally, the analysis of some forms of the “epistolary ceremonial” of the two interlocutors, which brings out the prevalence of a formal tone in Parodi's language, demonstrates the closeness of their language to the written Italian of average usage, as well as a meticulous linguistic control on the part of the writers. |

Accomunati da alcuni interessi simili, entrambi sono indefessi docenti che condividono una vena poliedrica che li porta a fondere territori molto ampi tra loro, nei quali prevale l’interesse per la lingua, per la sperimentazione poetica, per Dante e per la dimensione patriottica. Nel Carteggio si indaga il loro rapporto di stima reciproca, fatto di consigli e di scambi intellettuali, il ruolo che Monaci assume nella promozione della carriera accademica e scientifica di Parodi e le variazioni editoriali di alcuni contributi dello studioso genovese.
