The book series is primarily aimed at master’s students and researchers in the field of pedagogy, through its efforts to identify, actualize, and discuss fundamental pedagogical phenomena. It may also be relevant to other academic disciplines that, in both professional practice and research, work with people of all ages. This is especially true for the theme of this book: The Presence of the Voice.
Pedagogy is not only about learning. It is also an aesthetic and existential practice in which the voice plays a central role: The voice may well be the educator’s foremost instrument. But it is more than an instrument — it contributes to creating atmosphere and a sense of community, and helps establish a sensory connection in the spaces where learning takes place: between students and teachers, between children and adults, among children, and among adults. An inquiry into the voice will broaden the perspective on pedagogy, highlighting that it concerns intersubjective connections and the development of the human being.
In this text, the author explores the relationship between the voice and pedagogy through cognitive perspectives, but above all, this is a phenomenological inquiry. Is the voice, in pedagogy, something that creates intersubjective connections? Can it help us understand the role of pedagogy in human development? And how can it, when we are alone, help us think for ourselves? |
