Summary:Markus Bußmann has unearthed the memoirs of Richard von Kühlmann, one of the ablest diplomats of the Second German Empire and foreign secretary in 1917/18. They were written in the early 1930s, but never published. They complement the memoirs published by Kühlmann in 1948. In the second part of this edition Winfried Baumgart adds a collection of documents by Kühlmann’s pen for the years 1904 to 1918 and preserved in the archives of the German Foreign Ministry in Berlin.
