Summary:Awareness of history, learning about history and narrative are concepts that have become an integral part of the didactics of history. These terms were coined by Jörn Rüsen in his three-part work 'Grundzüge einer Historik' (Principles of History). This volume poses the question whether Jörn Rüsen's thought pattern can be extended with the help of historical epistemological methods in order to gain a new perspective on the theoretical foundations of history didactics. To this end, Rüsen's work will be the subject of a theoretical analysis and contextualisation within the history of science.
