Shrnutí:24 music videos and 36,000 YouTube comments are examined for traditional knowledge frameworks and new or re-interpretations of freedom. In a methodological pioneering effort in the Cultural Studies of DaFZ (German as a Foreign and Second Language), the pattern of meaning of freedom is pre-determined, and the discourse is explored in a targeted and criterion-based manner, with a focus on multimodal metaphors and topoi, incorporating context in a deductive approach. The research aims to strengthen the connection between theoretical interpretation pattern research and critical cultural learning in practice, with a focus on value transmission in foreign language teaching. Due to its interdisciplinary nature and diversity of methods, this is of interest to any discourse researcher.
