| Shrnutí: | In light of an increasingly diffuse and fragmented knowledge culture, the purpose of this book is to critically reflect on the relation between the university and philosophy and to open up for consideration of the meaning of this relation for democracy and society as a whole. The sixteen articles compiled in this volume discuss research and higher education in philosophy, in the context of the changing functions of the university system today and the capacity for thinking to transform reality.
Drawing on a rich and long history that extends from German idealism to our present day, this edited anthology attempts to critically diagnose the conditions, status and possibilities of philosophy and thought within today's university system. To what extent, and in what ways, can the university still function today as a place for thinking? |
